Alex is an author who spent a number of years in military intelligence before working for the UN in the war crimes worlds of former Yugoslavia, DRC and Uganda, and in Beirut where he lived for eighteen months investigating political assassinations. He lived for two years in Pakistan, then two in Afghanistan working on counter-terrorism and conflict stabilisation. He spent a year investigating Islamic State crimes in Syria and Iraq for an EU group of countries. Since he changed tack, he lived in Moscow for almost two years, and now works between Europe and the Middle East, consulting.

Alex founded a creative enterprise to bring his, and others' compelling stories to audiences across different genres and formats. His audiobook novel, Imagining The Bennets, was written as a counter to his working life, believing the Bennet family, and particularly the parents, deserved a bit of an airing before we meet them in Austen's grand novel. He decided to write Hard Reign, The Host Country and The Moral Lowground because he had some things to point out, gaps in the market when it comes to terrorism and the establishment. The Only Son of God is a slightly comedic screenplay, but with an underlying seriousness that takes a gentle but insistent poke at religion. There are reasons why there was only one son, and almost two thousand daughters. Not a well-known narrative, but why not believe it?

There's more on the drawing board, more historical fiction [A Man For All Treasons] and more terror [The Space Elevator]; a book of short stories [Short Stories From A Long Life]; a light-entertainment TV show that mixes the past with today, makes you think about things, and is fun, accessible, authentic and in an original format [Second Bite At The Cherry]; some collaborations with other writers; and a children's story or two aimed at 8 year olds and under [The Adventures Of Mouselina and Earth's AGM].
